Deco Eyes Two Chelsea Stars as Potential Targets for Barça
Barcelona has signed Dani Olmo and Pau Victor this summer, but wage restrictions continued to be a major factor during the transfer window.
The club had planned to sign a midfielder and was exploring alternatives for the January window before coach Hans Fleischer intervened.
The team had considered signing Mikel Merino and Ampadu Onana, but Fleischer now believes that with the return of Marc Casado, Andreas Christensen, Eric Gonzales, and Marc Bernat from injuries, they have enough resources for the position.
Meanwhile, sporting director Deco already has two economical options in mind for January and has turned his attention to Chelsea, where several players are expected to leave the club.
Deco had the opportunity to sign Carney Chukwuemenka on loan, and he was one of the players on his radar.
Romeo Lavia was another option. Deco had previously tried to sign him about two years ago from Southcliff, but in a bidding war between Liverpool and Chelsea, the player joined the Londoners for €60 million.
After suffering a serious injury last year, Lavia has yet to secure a place in the starting lineup this season, and Deco is considering him as a loan option as well.
